New Netbook Supports Solar Panels Was Launched



iUnika, Company from Spain has shown their latest four netbook on the LibreMeeting event sponsored by the Free Knowledge Foundation in Madrid. Among the latest netbook, there are two super model netbook-friendly environment that supports solar panels and bio-materials made of plastic.

Environment-friendly devices are sold in price range 130 to 160 euros or 180 to 220 U.S. dollars, with the weight of 700 grams, using the Linux operating system and processor speed 400MHz.

iUnika has put 64GB of flash memory as a media store, 128MB of RAM, WiFi and 10/100 Ethernet for connectivity. Netbook with 8-inch screen is capable of supporting resolution 800 × 480 pixels.

Although there are versions that use the solar panel on the casing of bio-plastic that can be recycled, visible from the panel image is not enough to produce power more than 4 watts. With power consumption of about 3-4 watts, the possibility of large solar panel is only enough to save the data right after the battery runs out and shutdown properly.

However, their efforts to create environment-friendly netbook is worth to be commendable. According the information from The Inquirer, this new netbook will be circulating in the market around June.
